Over the past few days, I’ve been pulling myself out of the house to go walking. Already I feel so much healthier. Not only does it put me in a better frame of mind by getting active, but it’s also been nice to get out and explore the area because there are some really lovely spots around my way. Actually, it’s been really great. So I wanted to write about it and tell you of my adventures.
I’ve Been out Walking lately
So, yeah, I decided last week that I need to get my ass in shape and get out walking because I’ve become really lazy lately. So, Ive been out walking every evening this week. It’s been really good. Not only for keeping myself fit, but for discovering places I didnt know existed before. So, it’s also been a great adventure as well as a way of getting fit again. It’s been great fun and challenging. This has just made me get into it all the more and I feel great for it.
Keeping in Shape
All of my life, I’ve always had a good metabolism so have never been able to put fat on. Of course, I’m not at all complaining. It has allowed me to have a perfect figure without having to exercise or watch what and how much I eat. I could sit all day eating cream cakes for a year and not put on a single ounce of weight. I’ve always been really lucky that way. Anything I’d eat would just burn up straight away.
When I was young, people would often tell me that loads of people pile weight on at 30. But at age 45, and still not a milligram heavier, I’d come to the conclusion that I’d never be fat and that weight is something i’ll never need worry about. But over the past few months since starting on the Estrogen, I’ve been putting a bit of a belly on. No way could I be having that.
So, I decide that it was high time I gave myself a kick up the ass to get myself back into shape by getting exercised again. I must admit, I havent been getting a great deal of that lately. So I decided that I would start off lightly and get the metabolism fired up again and get out walking every day. Walking is also so good for the mind too as well as the body and therefore better for the spirit altogether. So, ive been out walking some circular walks around the area I live. It’s been great to discover the area.
Getting the Juices flowing
I just love it when Ive got my ass out the door and on my way to a nice long walk. It feels great to get the juices flowing again, which of course creates a much healthier frame of mind. You’re also getting plenty of nice clean fresh air too which works wonders, not to mention the Vitamin D from the sun.
I find when I havent been out walking for a while, I lack the motivation. When I finally get myself moving at last, I can be a bit slow and sluggish for a minute or Two. But once I get the juices flowing and into the step, I feel so much healthier straight away.
Some really nice spots
Another great thing about getting out walking every day, besides the exercise, you get to see the area. There are some really lovely spots I’ve came across so far in my adventures. I guess it’s no surprise really that there’s loads of lovely walks around here when I’m in the middle of the countryside. But sometimes you dont even realise whats on your doorstep until you get out for a walk.
Since the village I live in is an old mining village, there are a lot of old mine workings in the area. These have long since been demolished, landscaped and turned into woodland walks. So theres been no shortage of footpaths to take. So, I’m looking forward to getting out and discovering more nice trails to walk.
A nice little Route for Walking every day
When I went out walking for the first time last week, I didnt really have a plan. I just figured I’d go for a walk and see where I end up. See what I find on my travels. I discovered a nice little circular route that had the option of extending it to a wider circle or cut it shorter. So, I’ve been getting out every day and walking the same route. Although I’ve also been discovering other routes that Ive either walked separately or added on to my regular circular walk.
The circular walk ive been doing has been a 9 Km walk that has been taping me approximately an Hour and a Half. But the past couple of evenings, I’ve been extending that route to go to the supermarket and get some groceries. So that has made it a little longer at a round 15 Km. I think thats roughly 10 miles.
So, its been a nice little route to walk regularly and get my metabolism burning. I always feel so much better for it when I get home too. I find that walking is so good for your mental health and helps you think much more positively.
Into the swing of it
When I first went out walking last week, I hadn’t walked far in a while so was a little bit stiff. But it felt great to get the exercise and fresh air. So it didnt take me long to get into the swing of it and was walking briskly. Now I know the route like second nature so it has been a nice steady walk.
I love to use the Phone App called Strava for charting my distance walked. It also tells me the speed I’m walking and a stop clock. It’s been fun being able to see how far you’ve already walked and works as a motivator for pushing myself to walk a little more each time.
Follow Me
One of the other great benefits of walking is that it gets me thinking and my mind starts thinking creatively. I always find it helps with writing too as it lets me think of things I want to write about. Then when I get home, I can get on the computer and write them down. So, I plan to be doing a lot of writing and publishing here in the coming weeks and months.
