what a year

Merry Xmas and what a year it has been !

what a year

So, it’s that time of year again where it only seems like last week that we were here before.

Thats right, it’s Xkmas and many people throughout the world, each for their own personal reasons, will be celebrating Christmas, or Yule.

However, I must admit that this year seems like a lifetime ago since last xmas which we as a bit dark to say the least but that’s another story. But, for sure it has been a turbulent year.

Merry Xmas

what a year

For some, it’s the celebration of the birth of Christ, an annual tradition since the Romans, using the existing Yule celebrations, instated the 25th of December as a kinda census where they could keep a look over everyone by having them turn up at church at least twice a year. They proclaimed the 25th of December the official birthdate of christ. The other occasion was his death, Easter.

or some, it’s thr celebration of Yule, the marking of the end of the Winter solstice 3 day period from the night of 21/22nd of December. This is us past the darkest time of the year, Niw its getting lighter. So let’s celebrate.

Unfortunately though for many, they are alone. Perhaps even homeless. No families or anyone to care for them. These people are many, yet so often forgotten in amongst the celebrations. It can be hard at this time of the year when everywhere they look, there’s reminders if their dispos. Please do what you can to help anyone you see struggling

Well, what a year it has been !

what a year

Well normally I find this time of year rushes in really quickly. But this year seems like a lifetime ago since last Xmas.

Last year I was squatting in a house I’d just found my freind and landlord dead in his room the week before and was facing eviction imminently.

now after a year of dealing in tents, cars, couches and hotels eventually, I finally got a council house of my own. But what a rollercoaster it has been.

Out in the cold

what a year

Even though I spent last Xmas and New Year unsure as to when I was gonna be evicted, I Ended up squatting in the flat until the beginning of February when i finally handed the keys over to my freinds family to give the council the flat back. They were quite understanding of my position and were happy to let me stay there til the council wanted it back.

so that was a handy bonus which saved me sleeping out in the cold in the coldest, wettest and windiest month of the year.

I had a total nightmare trying to deal with the council who could see I was really struggling bút would use it against me in order to fob off their work to someone else like the police

But finally I had someone come with me to see them and their attitude totally changed now that they knew there was witnesses. A few days later I was recognised as being a vulnerable adult and after a couple of unsuitable places cane up, I w2as offered a hotel room in a small hotel.

A room with a view

what a year

I was buzzing when I moved into the room at the hotel. It had a lovely big double king size bed and a massive wide-screen TV mounted on the wall and an en suite bathroom.

It was only a small hotel and I settled in pretty quick. I got on with most of the people there but they turned out to be backstabbers .

what a year

The housekeeping manageress would come along every morning and check the rooms to make sure you had t snuggled anyone in. Twice a week, if have to evacuate the room to let them change the bedding and towels etc.

I got on fine with herr until I complained about the toilet bit flushing right where we had a disagreement as she was trying to say that I must not be flushing it right instead of just reporting it to be fixed like anyone else would do.

After that, she started bitching about me having too much makeup on the bathroom shelf . So I moved it. Then she complained I had too many clothes. So I packed loads up n put them into storage keeping a minimal amount of clothes just to get by with.

Out on my arse

what a year

But then she started making up blatant lies to the owner like I had deliberately blocked the toilet and so on. So they ended up kicking me out.

It didn’t take me long to get the Ruth from another staff member sand found it they wanted me out because I’m not working and all of the other guys who live there have to get up at 5.30am for work and they didn’t lie it that I wasnt.

what a year

So they bitched and bitched until they got their way and I got kicked out. Re need having top stash my bags around the back of the shops in town then come back n get them later at night as it would take a few runs.

Hell

This couldn’t have happened at a worse time as I was particularly struggling that week with anxiety And was he acting a difficult time just getting out to the shop and back every day.

Then suddenly I had this crisis dropped on me. I had to just get up the hills and hide. I couldn’t handle being around people. But here I was forced to have to call the council each day to ask for a hotel room daily and get fobbed off with promises of a call back that never happened.

This was hell. Possibly one of the worst moments of my life. Knowing that my family lived only a couple of miles away but wee happy to see me sleeping in a freezing tent, waking at 4 am with frozen duvet rather than offer shelter, for fear of what the neighbors would say

A Room again

what a year

So, after a month of calling the council and trying to get a hotel room, explaining that I’d spent yet another night in the freezing cold as I had been all month, they finally gave me another room in a different hotel.

This room was great. It had a little table for putting my laptop on as well as a lovely big vanity table. The bathroom was luxurious and actually had a bath in it. I was ecstatic.

A house at last

what a year

Well, I’d only just got settled into my new room when the council calmed me up to tell me that they had an offer of a temporary accomodation house .

i went up and met the housing officer at the house later that day and we signed all the paperwork and got my keys. It was all mine now. My own house.

it was also furnished so had beds, a couch TV unit, fridge/Freezer, washing machine and appliances. I was over the moon

Settling in

what a year

So, I’ve just been spending the past few weeks getting settled in really . It’s been nice, picking up little bits and prices as I go.

I just gotta nice pair of bedside lamps the other day . It’s slowly looking more and more homeless each day. My little haven of peacefulness.

Forward to another year

what a year

So, now that I’m in a far more secure position than I was last year, I’m looking forward to a good year with lots of positives and good news, as the past year hasn’t been so much.

ust been thinking of some targets I can get focussed on now over the coming year now that I have my own place and space. I know my waiting time at the gender clinic is almost up and I’ll be seen soon. So it has been really good news to get my place and have somewhere comfortable.

Have a wonderful Xmas

what a year

So whatever you’re doing for Xmas this year, I wanna wish you all the happiness in the world and I was t to send you all a massive hug!

Hava Wonderful Xmas Y’all!

Karalyne
