I’ve been Walking loads Over the Past week

I've been out walking loads this week and feel healthy for doing so

So, as you probably know from my last posts that I’ve been walking loads over the past week. I’ve been on a bit of a mission to get in shape. So, I’ve been out walking every evening this week. But I’ve walked a lot more than I expected I would. I’m quite happy about that little result. So much so that I thought I’d write a little post about it.

Walking Loads over the Past Week

I've been walking loads over the past week around about the fauldhouse area

Well, in a bid to get myself back into shape and exercised, I’ve been taking myself out for a walk every evening. I feel so much better already and have been really enjoying getting those juices flowing and muscles stretched. I decided that I was gonna try push myself this past week. So, using the Strava app to chart the distance I’ve been walking, I set myself a goal.

I decided last week that I was going to aim for walking 50 Kilometres over the coming week. However, I’m pleased to say that I have well exceeded that goal and ended up walking a total of 80.23 km over the past week. So, I’m quite pleased with myself. I do love walking and once I get warmed up and into the swing of it, I can walk for miles.

Seeing the sites

I ended up walking loads over the past week. This is the little bridge on the Greenburn Golf Course in Fauldhouse

Apart from keeping my body fit, another great thing I’ve been loving about getting out walking every day in my local area, is getting to see the sites and discovering new places and routes to walk. I love to take photos too. So there’s been lots of lovely scenic spots and interesting things to photograph.

Mind you, It’s been getting dark at night a lot earlier over the past week since the clocks went back last weekend. I never actually thought about it until I went out for a walk on Monday about half past Five in the evening. The past few times I’d walked the same route before, it would be nice and light as I started and getting home just in time for darkness to fall. But here I was, only just starting and it was pitch black already.

So, ive had to get out a bit earlier a couple of evenings but most of the time, ive just been on a night walk instead. I find your eyes adapt quickly to the darkness anyway. But I’ve always got a torch on my phone if I need it. Think I’m gonna get myself a decent torch that shines nice and bright for going out walking with.

Making Tracks

It has been great fun discovering new routes and paths I didnt know existed before. Ive been following the same route I started with. But I’ve been adding bits to it each night so I’ve ended up walking loads. So my route has got a little bit longer each night. The route I walked tonight has been my longest route yet at 18.2 Km.

I find the Strava app is pretty good as well as it shows you footpaths around the area youre in. Often, a lot of these places seem to get missed out by google maps as it’s off road so their little camera van hasn’t ventured into those parts yet. The Strava app has and shows you different routes you can take over the fields and moorland. It’s pretty handy actually.

Walking Loads more This Week

ive been walking loads over the past week

So, since my daily walking routes have been getting progressively longer over the past week and I have well exceeded my goal of 50km, I’ve decided that this week, I’m going to walk loads more and set my goal for 100km. I think that will be a good little challenge that I shall enjoy and will also get me out exercising and keeping in shape. So I’m very much looking forward to that.

I find that walking is both really good for your physical health and also your mental health too. It always feel so much better after ive been for a walk. I had a dog for years. So I’d always be out walking every day whether I could be bothered or not. But since he passed away, ive been pretty lame at motivating myself to get out for a walk.

So, I decided last week that I was gonna get my ass in gear and get back out walking every day and here I am doing it. The past week has been fun and interesting. Now I’m looking forward to the coming week for the challenges and discoveries it holds in store. It’s really exiting stuff.
